CARES Act (HEERF)

The CARES Act (also known as the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) is federal legislation which provides a variety of financial support to individuals and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CARES Act established and funded the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to provide emergency funding to higher education institutions. A portion of each institution’s allocation must be awarded to students in the form of emergency financial aid grants for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Orange Technical College has acknowledged that the technical campuses have signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

CARES Act: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund

Information was provided to students as needed while the schools determined the method’s to determine which students receive the Emergency Financial Aid Grants. CARES Act student funds were disbursed to eligible students on/or after January 21, 2022.

Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), 2021 of the CARES Act

Orange Technical College has acknowledged that the technical campuses have signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), 2021 of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Information was provided to students as needed while the schools determined the method’s to determine which students receive the Emergency Financial Aid Grants. CARES Act student funds were disbursed to eligible students between May 25, 2021 – June 3, 2021.
